Middle and high schools get into robotics groove at RPI
On Dec. 10, robotics teams from Albany High School,
North Albany Academy, Stephen and Harriet Myers Middle School and
William S. Hackett Middle School converged upon the halls of
Rensslaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy.
Their mission?
For the middle-school students, it was to design and program robots
that would perform tasks to improve the safety of food on its
journey from farm to fork. The three Albany teams joined 10 other
teams from around the Capital Region in this regional
FIRST LEGO
League competition. North Albany's team took first place for
robot design and robot performance.
For the high-school students, it was to
compete in a VEX robotics competition RPI holds every year.
The Albany High team competed against 10 area teams and came
away with a third-place finish. Their next stops are competitions in
New Hampshire and Connecticut.
