Cutting-edge Albany High science programs in the news

-- Two cutting-edge
Albany High School science programs have been in the news recently,
providing information about the excellent opportunities available to
all students.
On Feb. 15, CBS6 featured Albany High’s new
biotechnology lab, made possible this year through a partnership
with Hudson Valley Community College.

Earlier this month, WTEN/TV-10 and YNN/9 both
featured Albany High’s “NanoHigh” partnership with the University at
Albany’s College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. That program,
considered the first of its kind at an American public high school
when it debuted at Albany High in 2007, introduces students to the
technology that is redefining the Capital Region economy.

The mission of the City School District of
Albany is to educate and nurture all students to be
responsible citizens, critical thinkers and lifelong learners to
successfully compete in the global community by providing an
academically rigorous and safe environment in partnership with parents,
students and the community. The district serves about 8,700
students in 15
elementary, middle and high schools. In addition to neighborhood
schools, the district includes several magnet schools and programs, as
well as other innovative academic opportunities for students,
including four themed academies at Albany High
School.
